Click Protect on the Tools menu and choose Protect Sheet. Please refer to the following screenshot:

This will allow you to restrict others from modifying the sheet, and also regulate data entry.

Change default file association and save formats

The Kingsoft Office Configuration Tools application allows you configure file association and default save formats. Do the following to enable Kingsoft Office open/save access to .DOC/.RTF/.XLS/.PPT files:

1. Open the Kingsoft Office program group.
2. Launch the Kingsoft Office Configuration Tools applications.
3. Click Advanced.
4. Click the File Associations tab and make sure all options are enabled (see screenshot below).
5. Click OK.

You will now be able to double-click Microsoft Office files from Windows Explorer and the appropriate Kingsoft Office application will be launched.

File types supported by Print2PDF Batch Conversion

Print2PDF can batch convert over 90 file types. Here a just a few: AutoCAD DWF (DWF), Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX), Microsoft Excel (XLS, XLSX), Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX), Microsoft Visio (VSD), Microsoft Publisher (PUB), Rich Text Format (RTF), HTML , Text (TXT), Adobe PDF (PDF), JPEG (JPG), GIF, Windows Bitmap (BMP), PNG , TIFF , Windows Metafile (WMF) and Enhanced Metafile (EMF).

Using the Print2PDF Batch Conversion application

The batch conversion application can be used to batch convert multiple files and apply any feature available to Print2PDF (e.g. encryption, Digital ID, file attachments). Do the following:

1. Click Start, then Programs or All Programs.
2. Click the Print2PDF program group, then Print2PDF Batch Conversion.
3. Hold the CTRL key or SHIFT key on the keyboard and left click with the mouse to select multiple files you wish to convert.
4. Configure the conversion options as appropriate.
5. Click Convert to begin conversion.

Using Print2PDF Batch Conversion from Windows Explorer

Batch conversion can be quickly used through the Windows shell. To convert a file from Windows Explorer, do the following:

1. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer and navigate to the file(s) you wish to convert.
2. Left click the file (Hold the CTRL key or SHIFT key on the keyboard to select multiple files).
3. Right click the file.
4. Choose Print2PDF from the popup menu.

You will see the conversion status dialog box appear while the file is being converted. The PDF document will be placed in the same folder as the original and will have the same name as the original but it will maintain the PDF file extension.

Create Datasource

You can easily create a simple Excel (.XLS) data source using Kingsoft Spreadsheets as follows:

1. Open Kingsoft Spreadsheets.
2. Enter the heading for each piece of data (e.g. AccountNumber, Name, EmailAddress).
3. Enter data for each record that corresponds with the heading.
4. Now click File, then click Save, give the file a name (e.g. mailmerge-data.xls) and choose Save as type Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP/2003.

Prepare Document for Mail Merge

Follow these steps to prepare the document for a mail merge:

1. Open an existing form letter into Kingsoft Writer.
2. Click Tools and then click Mail Merge Toolbar.
3. Click the Open Data Source button, choose the XLS data source created above, then click OK to confirm the data from SHEET1$.
4. Click anywhere in the document you wish the merge data to appear, then click the Insert Merge Fields button, choose the field you wish to insert into the document and click Insert.
5. Once you are finished inserting merge fields you can save the document.

View Output from Mail Merge

Click the corresponding button to merge the output as desired: Merge to New Document, Merge to Different New Documents, Merge to Printer, or Merge to E-mail. The below image shows the output from Merge to Different New Documents.

Open existing Microsoft Excel workbook and Export to PDF

Open an existing workbook and export to PDF as follows:

1. Click File – Open, select the existing file and click Open.
2. Now click the Export to PDF button on the toolbar.

Once the PDF Export process begins you will have many options to choose from. Do the following to easily create an Adobe PDF with metadata and hyperlinks:

1. Change the file name as you see fit.
2. Click the More button and make sure the following options are enabled: Summary information (metadata) and Hyperlink.
3. Click OK to begin conversion.
4. Click Open File to open the file in Adobe Reader.

View the PDF document in Adobe Reader

When you view the converted workbook in Adobe Reader you will see that all hyperlinks are converted, as well as all metadata from the Excel workbook. Kingsoft Spreadsheets can convert the following items:

• Metadata (title, author, subject, keywords)
• Comments
• Hyperlinks

Encrypt the spreadsheet on save

You can easily encrypt a spreadsheet, all encryption settings are found directly on the Kingsoft Spreadsheets Save dialog. Do the following to start the encryption process:

1. Open Kingsoft Spreadsheets.
2. Click File – Save As….
3. Click the Encrypt… button.

Set the document password

Document security is based on the document password. A strong password is hard to guess but easy to remember. To be safe, we recommend a minimum password length of 10 characters. Click the Advanced… button to select the Cryptographic Service Provider (CSP).

Choose the encryption type

A Cryptographic Service Provider (CSP) is a set of algorithms used for encoding and decoding. The default CSP is Office Standard. This is a CSP with publicly known security issues. Spreadsheets that are secured with the weak Office XOR or Office Standard encryption type can be cracked easily. It is recommended to choose a provider with at least 128-bits in the key length. Starting with the Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider v1.0, the length is 128bits and should provide adequate security.
