ActivePresenter can package SCORM compliant content from Flash output

ActivePresenter now includes the option to package your Flash output in SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 compliance for publishing to your learning management system (LMS). This allows you to add your presentation to any LMS that supports SCORM specifications. Read below to see how this works.

Export to Flash as SCORM Package

Capture and author your presentation as normal, but when you go to export the project to Flash, do the following to ensure compatibility with SCORM:

Click the Advanced tab.
Select the SCORM standard from the option Generate SCORM Package (e.g. SCORM 1.2).
Enter the desired metadata (e.g. Package Version, Identifier, Organization Title and Item Title).
Click Export when done.

View SCORM Package Contents

ActivePresenter will generate the SCORM package in the specified output folder, which is nothing more than a standard ZIP archive with all the necessary metadata and manifest information that is required by the learning management system. The below screenshot shows the package opened using 7Zip.

Screen Capture

Fixed a bug that could not capture the right-mouse click of some applications.
Corrected the size and position of actions when capturing Microsoft Excel.

Added a Timeline Panel: Manage timing properties (start time, duration) and objects visually.
Insert objects to multiple slides: Allow changing object properties before inserting, auto snap balloons, and hints to default action.
Insert slides from images: Allow inserting images as image objects instead of slide background images, so you can edit them easily.

Added mouse cursor movement, changed behavior of hint objects more properly (show hint when the mouse hovers hint icon) in AJAX/Flash simulation.
Video and FLV exporting is faster, especially for projects that contain audio objects.

Added scaling support for custom sizes (width and height) for all output formats.

Export to Flash Video or Shockwave Movie

Read this article to see how to capture fullscreen, then do the following to export the project as an Adobe Flash Video or a Shockwave movie:

Click Export – Flash Video (FLV).
Select the Video and Audio options you desire.
Click Browse, if the extension of the file is .FLV the output will be Flash Video, if the extension is .SWF the output will be a Shockwave Movie.
Click OK to being the export process.

How to capture your screen/desktop and generate automatic help documentation text in PDF

ActivePresenter is software that can easily capture your screen/desktop and automatically generate help documentation text. While recording the presentation, each mouse click will take the text from the Windows element (menu item, list box, etc.) and save it to a dialog element. These text elements will be used when exporting to a document format (e.g. Adobe PDF).

Capture your screen/desktop

Capture a new project and prepare the slides for export. Follow these steps:

Launch ActivePresenter.
Click Capture.
Select Full Screen then click OK.
Now each time you click your mouse, or press a key on the keyboard, a screenshot will be taken.
Click the ActivePresenter icon in the system tray, and then click Stop.
Slides will now be generated based on your input.
View each slide and notice the text used in the Name and Group Title property.

Generate automatic documentation

Exporting the project to a document format will include documentation help text. Follow these steps:

Click Export - Adobe PDF.
Select the Rendering Options you would like to include, the image format (JPG/PNG), and the output location.
Click OK to being the export process.
Click Yes to view the results in your default PDF reader or open the PDF from the folder you saved the output.

Corporate training software for system simultations using PowerPoint (PPT) to Flash (FLV) conversion

ActivePresenter is software that can create corporate training materials for system simulations. You can reuse your existing PowerPoint (.PPT or .PPTX) training resources and convert the output to Adobe Macromedia Flash Video (.FLV). Please note that the following requires Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or higher installed on the same computer as ActivePresenter Professional.

Import slides from Microsoft PowerPoint

Do the following to import an existing PowerPoint file (.PPT or .PPTX) into ActivePresenter:

Open ActivePresenter.
Click the Blank Project link on the start-up page.
Change the project name and location as needed, and then click OK.
Now click Insert - Insert Slides from PowerPoint.
Select the PPT/PPTX file to import, click Open, and then click OK to finalize the import process.

Export to Flash Movie

To export the project as a Flash video file (.FLV), do the following:

Click Export - Flash Video (FLV).
To just get the raw Flash output, make sure that all Rendering Options are disabled.
Click the Browse button and choose the output file name, then click OK.
Verify that the output file name is correct and click OK to begin the conversion process.

Online training software integrates into learning management systems (LMS) via email, XML or JavaScript Object Notification (JSON)

ActivePresenter is software for creating online training materials. You can gather results from the training session using e-mail, XML or JavaScript Object Notification (JSON). You can specify the report option when you export the AJAX interactive presentation. Read below for more details.

Report via e-mail

When the report is sent via e-mail, the user’s web browser will launch the default email client and add the results as text to the body of the message. You can specify plain-text or CSV format. The screenshot below is shown in plain-text format:

Report via XML or JSON

When the report is sent via XML/JSON, the user’s web browser will submit the results to a specified URL on your learning management system (LMS). The screenshot below shows the client submitting the results via HTTP using XML as the payload:

Capture New Project

Capture a new project and prepare for export. Follow these steps:

Name each slide

Make sure you give each slide a descriptive name. Just click each slide, and edit the Name property. This will be used on each page as well as the the name of the bookmark.

Adobe PDF with Bookmarks

Adobe PDF output will include bookmarks that are clickable. Just click the bookmark on the left to be taken to the appropriate page in the PDF.

Microsoft Word .DOC with Table of Contents

Microsoft Word .DOC output includes a complete table of contents. Edit the file as you see fit or distribute the document as is.

ActivePresenter video (AVI/WMV/MPEG4/MP4) resolution settings for YouTube high definition (HD) content

ActivePresenter can output a presentation in the following file formats: Audio Video Interleave (.AVI), Windows Media Video (.WMV), and MPEG4 (.MP4). YouTube will accept any of these file types, but will require that the resolution be 720p (1280×720) or higher before it will be available as YouTube HD (high definition). You can read more about the requirements from this YouTube help article.

Export the presentation to MPEG4

Do the following to export your presentation as MPEG4 in preparation for upload to YouTube:

Open ActivePresenter.
Capture a new project, or open an existing project*.
Click Export – Video (AVI, WMV, MPEG4).
Click Browse, click Save as type, change to MPEG4 video, and then click Save.
Verify that the name is correct under Output file and click OK.

* Capture full-screen with desktop resolution 1280×720, or capture an application at 1280×720.

Upload and view the video on YouTube

Upload the output file as normal to YouTube. Once YouTube has processed the video completely you will be able to click the red HD icon in the lower right corner to view the high definition version of your video online.
